Caring Environment, Creative Learning

upSTREAM Learning is a Biblically based learning center designed to assist, and support homeschool families and non-homeschool families with their children’s education needs. upSTREAM was started by Mark and Heather
Pendleton, two former public-school teachers with over 30 years combined
experience in STEM education. Mark and Heather felt called to open a resource center that centered around Biblical teachings and education that went “upSTREAM” against today’s current society norms. With more parents choosing to educate their children outside of the public-school policies and teachings, many parents expressed a need for support through this difficult task. upSTREAM opened its doors in the portables behind Columbia Heights Assembly of God in the fall of 2024 to try to fill some of that need.
upSTREAM is not a school. We are a resource center that allows parents to choose specific classes to further enhance their children’s education.
upSTREAM not only has a Biblical emphasis but also a STEM emphasis.
STREAM: Science, Technology, Reading, English Language, Arts, and Math are all areas upSTREAM focuses its attention. With input from parents, upSTREAM will be offering various classes in those STEM components as well as other enhancement classes. upSTREAM will also be offering one-on-one tutoring sessions for students who need additional support in specific content areas.
upSTREAM operates as a non-profit institution but does charge fees to pay teachers and administration. It is designed to serve individual families or whole coops.
